The ownership of the property appears to have been tried up with the MCNAMARA family who he owned the hotel with [P263]
At this time 150 acres of the farm were cleared and it contained a small four-roomed house with a front verandah [P263]
The only fence on the property was one that went through the middle of it to help keep out wild horses [P263]
It was reported in 1928 that the farm previously owned by the Carnamah Hotel Company had been sold [4: 28-Jul-1928]

At the time the sale price was record-breaking for a country hotel, although Carnamah was "a very prosperous district" [81: 15-Jan-1928]
The price was reputedly justified as shred financiers saw "hotels in wheat centres as very sound investments" [81: 15-Jan-1928]

Previous to coming to Carnamah, Mr Davies had the hotel at Dongara, and later the Midland Hotel, Mogumber, where he was a well known figure at the refreshment room for many years. During his stay at Mogumber he took a keen interest in local affairs and was for some time secretary of the Mogumber Race Club. In his young days in England Mr Davies was a prominent rifle shot and won many trophies. The deceased had been ailing in health for some time and suffered very ill health, the cause of death being a paralytic stroke. Deceased leaves a widow and one son to mourn their loss. Their elder son Frank was killed in the great war in 1915. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, and the remains were conveyed, per car, to Three Springs for burial. Quite a number of people from all parts of the district paid their last tribute of respect at the graveside. The deepest sympathy is felt for Mrs Davies and her son George. From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 25 August 1944:
"Death of a Native. Arising out of an altercation between natives at a camp on Messrs. Hollingsworth Bros.' property at Carnamah, the death occurred in the early hours of Monday morning of Joachim Dido (71), an old Aboriginal identity of the Carnamah district. The late Dido, although a full blooded aboriginal, was nevertheless well respected throughout the district, and the news of his untimely demise came as a shock to all who had known him. Originally coming from the North West he spent many years around the Moora district, but eventually migrated to Carnamah, where he was one of a number of natives retained by the late Donald Macpherson. Following the late Mr. Macpherson's death, he spent a short period in the Three Springs district, but for several years past has been employed by Messrs. Hollingsworth Bros. A particular good worker and entirely trustworthy, he was highly thought of by all who had employed him. Dido was twice married. His first union was a rather tragic one as, although several children were born, they all died with the exception of one daughter, who spent several years in the employ of the Macpherson family, and later returned to the mission, where we believe she also died. Embarking on matrimony a second time, Dido chose for his wife Jessie Farrell, a widow, some years younger than himself. One child (Mary) was born and she, the widow, and a stepson (Arthur Farrell, A.I.F.) are left to mourn the passing of Dido. Vale Dido, a coloured gentleman."

From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 13 February 1942:
"Letters from Abroad. The following letters have been received by the Carnamah Girls' Club in appreciation of the Christmas parcels which they forwarded to members of the forces serving overseas:-
Aus. No. 16130 J. W. Dixon, Royal Australian Air Force, 70 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Middle East
Please convey to your fellow members my most sincere thanks for your parcel which arrived here this afternoon. Also the general thanks of 70 Squadron Workshop, as I wasn't nearly "numerous" enough on my own to stop the general rush. It has least given me a respite to write a letter or two. I got away with one book myself, also some "chewie" and the sweets. Some wag is now singing "Oh Mother, this Carnamah is a Wonderful Place!" Many a true word is spoken in jest. I had another parcel from Carnamah containing shortbread from Mrs. Bowman. It had a disastrous effect on the Scotch element - (you in Carnamah have not the monopoly) - it made them all sick. Home sick! As a matter of fact we, the few Australians here, have a decided advantage, on the other fellows in matters of mail and our parcels are more numerous than theirs. Still, we always try to be as generous as our evil natures will let us be. Candidly though, books are a blessing, for if someone pinches a book you have a reasonable (fairly) chance of getting it back, but edibles, no! In all sincerity, the feeling that your club has succeeded in conveying to me is quite beyond my ability to express. I can only say that I feel like one of the kids I have so often seen get something he or she so much wanted, off the Carnamah Christmas tree. Enough! I should like to convey through your members my very best wishes for the coming new year to my many friends in Carnamah. Black as things look just at the time of writing, one can only be tempted to say, the darkest hour is just before the dawn."
