     He was in Carnamah by January 1908 when he appeared on an electoral roll as William DAGGETT, Labourer of Carnamah [19]
     By August 1908 he was farming in Carnamah [19]
     His 804 acres in Carnamah consisted of Conditional Purchase leases 9239/74, 18537/55 and 18632/55 [44]
     The three leases later became Victoria Locations 3353, 3431 and 3436 [44]
     His farm was on the west side of the Midland Railway line and The Midlands Road just south of the Carnamah townsite [62]
Also a Timber Contractor in Carnamah in partnership with Henry BROOKING trading as "Brooking & Doggett" 1908-1914 [6]
     Brooking & Doggett located water and put down wells in Carnamah and Winchester for the Midland Railway Company in 1914 [34]
     They put down a well on Lot M918 in Winchester which contained good water at a depth of 86 feet [34]
     Did well sinking and boring on Lot M912 in Winchester and sunk wells on Lot M915 in Winchester and Lot M939 in Carnamah [34]
During the 1914-15 financial year he appears to have sold his 804 acre farm in Carnamah to GREEN Bros of Carnamah [44]
     Henry BROOKING had the adjoining 906 acre Victoria Location 3430, which was also sold to GREEN Bros that same year [44]
Miner in Meekatharra prior to enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 30 June 1915 [18] [30: items 3511458, 6509315]
     Upon enlistment he was 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighed 147 pounds and had brown eyes, dark brown hair and a dark complexion [30]
     He was appointed at Blackboy Hill on 21 July 1915 to 8th Reinforcements of the 10th Light Horse Battalion [30]
     Embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia for active service abroad on the H.M.A.T. A68 Anchises on 2 September 1915 [30]
     Trooper 1167 of the Australian Imperial Force's 10th Light Horse Battalion on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey and in Egypt [30]
     Promoted to Lance Corporal on 31 August 1917 and appointed Temporary Corporal on 2 September 1917 [30]

"Obituary - Late Mrs. Margaret Bowman - Funeral at Winchester. Following a somewhat lengthy period of indifferent health, the death occurred on Tuesday last at the home of her daughter (Mrs. V. Johnson) at Double View of yet another old and highly respected identity of Carnamah in the person of Mrs. Margaret Swan Bowman at the age of seventy-seven years. The deceased lady, who was born at Fifeshire (Scotland), arrived at Carnamah in company with her husband in the very early years of land settlement in the North Midlands, and it is only since the passing of the late Mr. John Bowman about two-and-a-half years ago that she has resided with her daughter in the metropolitan area. The late Mrs. Bowman, whose funeral took place in the Winchester Cemetery on Wednesday last, is survived by five daughters in Mesdames J. Dixon (Bindoon), V. Johnson (Double View), P. Thomson (Marchagee), D. Johnson (Carnamah) and Miss Margaret (Daisy) Bowman (Mt. Lawley), and also one son in Mr. D. Bowman, of Carnamah. At the cemetery the service was conducted in the presence of quite a large assemblage of relatives and friends by Rev. J. R. Albany, of Morawa, the casket being borne from the hearse to the graveside by Messrs. A. Forrester, C. Robertson, L. W. Grierson and R. Niven, and the pall-bearers were Messrs. C. Chapman, R. W. Clark, R. Diamond and E. K. Wells." Note: the above obituary also appeared in The North Midland Times newspaper on Thursday 16 December 1954

While driving a tractor attached to a harvester in December 1930 he turned around to find his crop on fire [4: 3-Jan-1931]
     Before he was able to extinguish the fire it burnt approximately sixty acres of his crop, which was partly covered by insurance [4]

     The 195 suckers consisted of 44 sold at 18/4, 60 at 16/7, 45 at 16/4, 4 at 15/4, 36 at 13/7, and 6 at 12/7 per head [5: 6-Sep-1935]
     The 147 wethers consisted of 122 sold at 22/1 per head and 25 at 16/1 per head [5: 11 & 25-Oct-1935; 1-Nov-1935]
A fire destroyed 70 acres of crop and 40 acres of feed on his farm in Winchester on Friday 22 November 1935 [5: 29-Nov-1935]
     This time the crop was insured, and it was surmised that the fire had been caused from a spark from his tractor [5]
During the first quarter of 1936 sold 31 woolly lambs (21 at 14/10, 10 at 19/10) and 25 lambs at 13/4 per head [5: 17-Jan-1936, 6-Mar-1936]

     During the shepherding some of the sheep stayed to ground containing a poisonous plant, and as a result 32 dies [5: 22-May-1936]

They sold 94 sheep suckers through Dalgety & Co Ltd at three Midland Markets in August, September and October 1936 [5]

In 1924 Bill was working as a farmhand in Western Australia and George as a jackeroo in New South Wales, Australia [P37]
With the prospect of earning £6 per week the two brothers decided to join forces and work as clearing contractors [P37]
George caught the next available ship to Western Australia and so began their partnership "Dring Bros" [P37]
Contract Clearers at various localities in Western Australia, including Mandiga near Bencubbin [P37]
By 1926 they had saved enough for a deposit on a farm and decided to look into buying one from the Midland Railway Company [P37]
Bill travelled to Coorow by train and then went with the Midland Railway Company's agent by horse to inspect a farm [P37]
On 9 April 1926 they signed a contract with the Midland Railway Company to purchase 2201 acres of virgin land near Carnamah [27]
The 2201 acres was Lot M1632 of Victoria Location 2201 and cost £1045 (which they paid for by instalments over 22 years) [27]

On 19 April 1944 they purchased from the Midland Railway Company another 2498 acres of farmland near Carnamah [27]
The 2498 acres had been the farm of LEWIS Bros for 12 years before the Midland Railway Company had rescinded the sale [27]
The 2498 acres was Lot M1634 of Victoria Location 2023 and cost £1124 (which was paid by instalments within 15 years) [27]
During part of the war George served in the Royal Australian Air Force and Bill ran the farm with the help of Vincent KENNEDY [P37]

"I am very pleased to learn that Mrs Reid is so appreciative of the payment of £20 made to her, as authorised by the Board, in consideration of past services to the Settlers, and that this will enable her to go to the King Edward Hospital to complete her training."

     The survey proved good and his brothers John and George joined him to secure the mineral rights and excavate a mining shaft [P381]
     He put forward most of the capital for the survey and mineral rights, both of which ended up costing more than he'd expected [P381]
     They began excavating a shaft but found the coal seam to be deeper and with no capital left they had to walk away [P381]
     Immediately after the failed venture he was despondent and decided to leave Scotland for Australia [P381]
