The deceased had suffered indifferent health for over twelve months and underwent an operation a week ago last Tuesday, (June 18) and although she was not improving as well as could be expected no undue anxiety was felt for her condition. The late Mrs. Davison who was married in England, came to Australia with her husband prior to the great war, and resided in Perth until 1933, coming to Carnamah of about May that year. From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 16 February 1934:
The Farm Service Station - Complete Engineering Service Offered by Efficient Plant and Competent Staff
"Recent additions to both the plant and personnel of the Farm Service Station, Carnamah, have greatly increased the scope and efficiency of their work until now they claim to have the best equipped garage north of Perth. A representative of the Ford Motor Co. recently told the proprietor (Mr. I. Johnson) that their plant is better than anything of its kind in Geraldton. The service offered covers mechanical and electrical work to motor vehicles and tractors; blacksmithing and wheel work; fitting, turning and screw cutting work, very modern lathes are included in the plant; welding of every description; battery charging; repairs to farm machinery; and a spare part and accessory stock. Mr. Alan Heales, an R.A.C. certified foreman, who joined the staff this week, will be in charge of the mechanical repair work to motor vehicles. The latest installation is a battery charging plant, which was put into operation Wednesday night. It is the latest plant obtainable, being manufactured in W.A. by A. C. McCallum and Co. It is operated on the town electric supply and transformed it down to the 6-8 voltage. It is automatic in action, the amperage being gradually reduced as the batter becomes charged, until stops when the battery is fully charged, thereby eliminating risk of overcharge. Batteries will now be charged in 24 hours from time of delivery at the Service Station. The plant will also be used for electrical tests. Two new additions to the plant have been the fitting of a break down truck, and a portable welding plant, which can be wheeled about wherever required. The enterprise on the part of the proprietor (Mr. Ivan Johnson) in providing such an efficient plant and competent staff, (which now number five), is worthy of every recognition by the district. It is to be hoped that the expenditure of his capital in the town in this manner both in plant and in labour, which all adds to the progress of the town, will reap its just reward."

From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 27 June 1941:
"Vale Captain Ivan Johnson. Another wave of sadness swept over the Carnamah district on Monday morning, when the flying of the Union Jack, at half mast, heralded the news that Captain Ivan Johnson had paid the supreme sacrifice. Educated at the Guildford Grammar School he came to this district about eighteen years ago and played an important part in the public life of the town and district. He gave unselfishly of his time and ability to practically every organisation in Carnamah, holding official positions in the Agricultural Society, Tennis Club, Presbyterian Church and Repertory Club, also being a playing member of the football club a number of years ago. The late Captain Johnson was given command of Carnamah's first Militia Unit and put in a lot of strenuous work organising and training the unit to a high standard. He joined the A.I.F. about 15 months ago and by hard work and ability he soon attained the rank of Captain. He was held in high esteem by the members of his own company and the loss of their leader will be sadly felt. A widow and family of two daughters, Jean and Pam., and two sons Dick and Douglas (who was born after his father sailed for overseas) are left to mourn their loss, and to them and to his parents and to all those who were near and dear to him, we extend our sincere sympathy at their sad loss."

The late Mr. Kenny who was 60 years of age had been ailing in health for some time past, and although the news of his death was not unexpected it came as a great shock to all who had known him. "Death of a Carnamah resident - Following an illness extending over a lengthy period, a well-known member of the Carnamah business community in the person of Mr. J. A. Kenny passed away at the St. John of God Hospital at Subiaco on Monday last. The deceased gentleman, who was sixty years of age, entered hospital only about ten days prior to his death and underwent a serious operation, and remaining in an extremely low condition for some days thereafter, he passed away as stated in the presence of his wife. The late Mr. Kenny entered business circles at Carnamah about eight years ago, and although failing health during the latter part of that period prevented him from displaying a particularly active part in the affairs of the community he always showed his interest in other ways, and was a keen follower of all forms of sport. He is survived by a widow, who returned to Carnamah on Wednesday last, to Mrs. Kenny we wish to join in expressing profound sympathy in her sad bereavement. The funeral of the late Mr. Kenny took place in the Karrakatta Cemetery on Tuesday last."

Timothy KEOGH
Born 1874 in Killarney, Victoria, Australia [15]
Son of James KEOGH and Bridget FARLEY [15]
Married Margaret MCINTYRE in 1906 in Boulder, Western Australia [66]
Purchased the 1,000 acre Victoria Location 4742 in Perenjori at a cost of 14/6 per acre in April 1911 [9: 14-Apr-1911] [152]
Settled on his prospective farmland in Perenjori in June 1911 [152]
Farmer in Perenjori 1911-1959 [19]
Practically the whole of his 1,000 acres was forest country with possibly only about ten acres of poor land [152]
Settled with only £100 capital plus £425 loaned by the Agricultural Bank for improvements, stock and machinery [152]
As there was initially no railway through Perenjori his postal address was Carnamah until 1914 [6]
During his first few years on the farm he employed one farmhand at times but otherwise solely worked the farm himself [152]
In 1915 he grew 150 acres of wheat crop which averaged 14 bushels per acre [152]
Received help from the Industries Assistance Board (I.A.B.) while establishing his farm, and in 1916 owed them about £220 [152]
By 1916 he had 290 acres of his farm cleared and under crop, and had half cleared another 60 acres [152]
His water supply was a well of good stock water, which wasn't absolutely fresh but gave a supply of about 600 gallons a day [152]
In 1916 he was living with his wife and two children in a four roomed 20 by 30 foot house with an eight foot verandah [152]
He also had a bush stable, a rough machinery shed and a big fly to cover his harvester [152]
Owned a six-foot harvester and 19-spring tooth cultivator and an interest in a 15-disc drill and small chaffcutter in 1916 [152]
Expected his 1916 crop of 290 acres, which had been cultivated but not ploughed, would average 14 bushels per acre [152]
Estimated the expense of putting in and taking off his crop in 1916 to be 35/- per acre [152]
Gave evidence to the Royal Commission on the Agricultural Industries of Western Australia in Perenjori on 25 November 1916 [152]
He thought that farmers in Perenjori needed 1,000 acres and that a man couldn't work more than 250 acres on his own [152]
Believed larger machinery and bulk wheat handling would reduce costs, and that the duty on machinery was unreasonably high [152]
Remarked "to depend on wheat alone is not good" and that if he could get sheep on extended terms he could build up a flock  [152]
He concluded "I have a fair shell of a house... and a I might say that the majority of the dwellings here are not fit for pigs" [152]
He was of the opinion that payments for the first few years needed to be held over to allow farmers to establish themselves [152]
Resided in Perenjori until his death in 1959 [2]
Died 7 July 1959; buried Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth WA (Roman Catholic, SC, 82) [2]
