Herself and her husband were tendered a Farewell Social & Dance at the Carnamah Hall on Saturday evening 20 June 1936 ^[5]
     The large attendance at their farewell was credited to the esteem in which they were held by the residents of the North Midlands ^[5]
     From their long residence himself and his wife were said to be "the most popular and well known couple in the North Midlands" ^[5]

Witnesses to their marriage were her sister Helen KING and Bob's brother Thomas FORRESTER ^[P1]

Didn't pay Cyril RAYNER for the milk, instead supplied his children of school age a hot lunch at the tearooms ^[P7]
Whenever a picture/movie was shown in the Carnamah Town Hall, the tearooms opened during the interval of the movie ^[P7]
Also catered for local events - for many years catered fro the meals at the Carnamah, Coorow and Three Springs shows ^[P1]
She did large amounts of local catering - for functions, dances, weddings, parties and the meals for local Road Board meetings ^[P7]

"New Business at Carnamah - Mr. R. Laffan announces, per medium of our advertising columns, that he is starting in business at Carnamah as a property salesman. Mr. Laffan was a banker for about 21 years, the last 14 of which have been spent with the Commonwealth Bank. Mr. Laffan will also practise as an auctioneer, sworn valuator and auditor, and will carry on a number of agencies. At present he is largely engaged in developing the land sales portion of the business. He has purchased land at the corner of Macpherson and Boojerabba Streets, where business premises are in course of erection, a portion of which will be let to a chemist, who is starting at Carnamah. Mrs. Laffan assists in the business and will shortly open a circulating library."
