Enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in Perth on 25 March 1917 [30: item 4769402]
     On enlistment he was 5 feet 7½ inches tall, weighed 149 pounds and had brown eyes, dark brown hair and a fresh complexion [30]
     At Blackboy Hill on 2 April 19167 he was appointed to the 25th Reinforcements of the 16th Battalion [30]
     Embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia for active service abroad on the H.M.A.T. A30 Borda on 29 June 1917 [30]
     Disembarked in Plymouth, England on 25 August 1917 and after further training proceeded to France on 27 December 1917 [30]
     Private and later Lance Corporal 7572 in the Australian Imperial Force's 44th Battalion in France during the First World War [30]
     He was Wounded in Action in France on 14 June 1918 and after hospitalisation rejoined his Battalion on 29 August 1918 [30]
     Embarked from England on the Konigin Luise and disembarked in Fremantle, Western Australia on 3 August 1919 [30]
     Discharged from the Australian Imperial Force on 5 September 1919; received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal [30]
     His name is among those listed on Carnamah's Roll of Honour for those who enlisted from the Carnamah district [35]
In 1925 he was working as a Labourer in Broomehill [50]
Resided of late in the Perth suburb of Bassendean [2]
Died 17 September 1962; buried Guildford Cemetery, Perth suburb of Guildford (Roman Catholic, B, 60) [2]
