Fell while carrying a bag of wheat on a plank onto a railway truck at the Winchester Railway Siding in November 1932 ^{[5: 11-Nov-1932]}
The fall resulted in him badly tearing the muscles in his back, for which he was treated at the Carnamah Private Hospital ^{[5: 11-Nov-1932]}
After an enjoyable holiday of two weeks in Perth he returned to Winchester on Saturday 10 February 1934 ^{[5: 16-Feb-1934]}
