     He served as Corporal 2812 in the Australian Imperial Force's 11th Battalion in France during the First World War [30: item 4245939]
     In May 1917 received word that he was missing, failed to hear from him, and another soldier said he had been Killed in Action [30]
     Her husband had been Killed in Action on 6 May 1917 and the Australian Imperial Force never found his final resting place [30]
     Under the War Pensions Act received a pension of 52/3 and her daughter 20/- per fortnight from 9 October 1917 onwards [30]
     Received her late husband's personal effects, Memorial Scroll, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and his Victory Medal [30]
     His personal effects consisted of a piece of silk, scarf, pair of mittens, cards, strop, brush, handkerchief and a pipe [30]

During the horse races at the Saint Patrick's Day Sports a horse swerved into the spectators and knocked him to the ground [10]
