Upon leaving Mount Pleasant he shifted with his mother and siblings to Bush Grove Farm in Wannamal [P458]

Resided in Wannamal until enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 20 November 1916 [94]
Embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia for active service abroad on the H.M.A.T. A34 Persic on 29 December 1916 [18]
Private 3125 in the Australian Imperial Force's 3rd Pioneer Battalion during the First World War [94]
While on a visit to Three Springs he attended the Three Springs Day held on Thursday 26 September 1918 [10: 4-Oct-1918]
At the Three Springs Day he won the High Jump and he and his cousin Leslie C. BYRNE won the Rescue Race [10]
