By mid December 1935 he had returned home to Waddy Forest to spend the Christmas school holidays with his parents [5: 20-Dec-1935]
Member of the Waddy Forest Tennis Club in 1935-36 [5: 10-Jan-1936]
He won the R.S. Boyd Trophy for secondary school wool classing at Scotch College in December 1936 [39: 9-Dec-1936]
He and his brother exhibited and won prizes in the Sheep section at a number of Coorow-Waddy Agricultural Shows

In 1936 also received 1st for Three Lambs Suitable for Export and 2nd for Three Merino Ewes under 1½ years [5]

He came 2nd in the Sheep Judging at the Coorow-Waddy Agricultural Show, which was held on 2 September 1937 [5: 10-Sep-1937]
Together as 'J. & W. Wallace' he and his brother he won 1st prize for Three Fat Lambs Suitable for Export [5: 10-Sep-1937]
Their lambs also took out the Dalgety & Company trophy for export lambs and were some of the best the judge had ever judged [5]
Corporal of the No. 2 Troop of the "C" Squadron of the motorised 25th Light Horse Machine Gun Regiment in 1939 [P15]
The No. 2 Troop was a local militia unit made of people from the North Midlands and trained in Carnamah once a fortnight [P15]
Enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in Perth during the Second World War on 31 March 1941 [16]
He underwent training at Cunderdin and Geraldton in Western Australia and the in Queensland [P182]
Served in New Guinea during the and was involved in using radar and dropping Z Forces behind enemy lines [P182]
At the time of his discharge on 27 February 1946 he was Flight Lieutenant 406743 of the Royal Australian Air Force's 201 Flight [16]
Married Kathleen Cecilia SCOTT on 18 October 1941 at Saint Aidan's Presbyterian Church in Claremont [39: 8-Nov-1941]
He was one of the guests of honour at the Welcome Home to Ex-Service Personnel held in Coorow on 2 March 1946 [5: 15-Mar-1946]
