From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 4 August 1944:
Obituary - Vale Mrs L. Ackley
On Tuesday, 25th July, residents of Arrino were shocked to hear that during the previous night death had claimed on of their residents in Lola, wife of Mr Ben Ackley. The deceased lady had not enjoyed the best of health over recent weeks, but only entered the North Midlands District Hospital the previous Friday, in which institution she underwent an operation the next day. The late Mrs Ackley was aged 38 years. Coming to the district about 12 years ago, she had assisted with and worked for Patriotic and other social bodies. Much sympathy is felt for the husband (Mr B. J. Ackley) and family: Mick, Irene and Maurice, who are left to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, July 26th, in the Three Springs Cemetery, Rev. G. S. Coxon officiating. A large number of friends gathered to pay their last respects."
