Mingenew Lady's Death
"Another old and highly respected resident of Mingenew in the person of Mrs. Maria Catherine McCagh passed away suddenly at her home on Friday evening last, the deceased lady having attained the ag eof seventy-six years. The late Mrs. McCagh was born at Greenough, in which district she lived with her family until married, and with her husband she then went to Arrino and reared a family of six children, her husband having predeceased her over twenty years ago. For the past thirty-one years, however, the deceased lady had resided at Mingenew. In addition to her family of four boys and two girls, she is survived by twenty-three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two families being Mr. and Mrs. D. McCagh and Mr. and Mrs. D. Forbes, who reside at Mingenew. The funeral took place in the Mingenew Catholic Cemetery on Saturday last in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends, included in the former being five members of her family. The service was conducted by the Rev. Father Eugene, O.S.B., of New Norcia, and amongst the floral tributes laid upon the grave were those from the following:- Children and grandchildren; Edna and Jim and grandchildren; Mrs. C. Pollard; Mrs. N. Stephen and family; Mr. and Mrs. A. Wantling and staff of Commercial Hotel, Mingenew; Mary and Wally Wilton and family and Frank Pettit; Mrs. E. Lewis and family; Mrs. Ritch, Robinson, Korich, Cooper, Lithorne, Stemp and K. Newton; Mr. and Mrs. A. Dobson and Doug; members of Mingenew Road Board."
