Biographical Dictionary - Coorow, Carnamah, Three Springs

The Biographical Dictionary chronicles the lives of people with a connection to the shires of Coorow, Carnamah or Three Springs. These shires encompass the towns and places of Arrino, Billeroo, Carnamah, Coorow, Dudawa, Eganu, Eneabba, Five Gums, Green Head, Gunyidi, Inering, Kadathinni, Leeman, Marchagee, Prowaka, Three Springs, Waddy Forest and Winchester.

There are also entries for some people from neighbouring and nearby places such as Bunjil, Caron, Latham, Mingenew, Perenjori and Yandanooka.

The dictionary incorporates the former Coorow-Waddy, Carnamah-Winchester and Three Springs databases. It is an ongoing collaboration between the Carnamah Historical Society & Museum, the North Midlands Project and you - the general public! We welcome contribitions of information, recollections and photographs.

Dr Joanna Sassoon, in her assessment of the Carnamah Historical Society's collections, assessed the dictionary as being of state significance for its "dense, rich and... extraordinary value in capturing an intimate and diverse set of information about people in the region."

George Main, senior curator and historian at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, remarked that "by developing such a rich and accessible repository of information, and by allowing the general public to contribute content, Carnamah Historical Society is leading the way in the development of online research archives."
