Obituary - Mr John C. Walker
    "The death occurred at the Beverley Hospital at Saturday last at the age of 74 years of Mr John Cuthbert Walker, of the Main Camp, Beverley. He had been ailing for a long period and for some weeks had been an inmate of the institution.
     The deceased was a Victorian, having been born at Hamilton, in that State, and he came to the West about 47 years ago. Associated with farming enterprises he was for a time the manager of the Rossmore Estate at Goomalling and was later employed at Romilly in this district. Later he was with the Railway Department and for a time lived at Pingelly.
     About nine years ago he returned to Beverley with his family and since then has been living in retirement. He is survived by a widow and family of six sons (William, Charles, Herbert, Edgar, Ernest and Keith) and one daughter (Vida). Four of his sons saw overseas service in World War II, whilst his daughter also also a member of the services. One daughter predeceased him by several years, being a victim of a motor cycle smash on the York Road in which the rider of the cycle was also killed.
     The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at the Anglican Cemetery after a service at St Mary's Church. The Rev Chrurchill officiated and the arrangements were carried out by Mr E T Fairhead."
